Since ChatGPT, the artificial intelligence-based software, hit the market last November, there has been a lot of uncertainty: Are we now facing a revolution in learning and teaching? How can schools and universities prepare for the changes that such AI tools will bring? Four DIPF experts take a look at the development for us in the blog – and explain the opportunities and risks for educational research.

Sebastian Gombert, Dana Kube, Dr. Jan Schneider and Sebastian Wollny conduct research in the "Educational Technologies" department unit of the Information Center for Education, which is headed by Prof. Dr. Hendrik Drachsler. In various projects, they deal with topics such as learning and web analytics or the use of AI in teaching. In the interview, they look at ChatGPT, short for "Generative Pre-training Transformer," and classify the new AI tool for us.
