School Archives Wiki

The Schularchive-Wiki (School Archives Wiki) indexes individual schools and teacher training institutions in German-speaking countries as well as the sources and materials on their history and where to find them.

About

The Schularchive-Wiki serves as a gateway to information about individual schools and teacher training institutions in German-speaking countries and their history. It provides information about the institutions themselves as well as available historical materials about their history and where these materials can be found. This can be relevant literature, archival records, but also teaching and learning materials.

The aim of the wiki is to provide educational historians with a central point of access to sources on school history, and to make it easier for them to find the widely scattered historical materials. Some of these materials can be found in the archives of the schools themselves, but also in external archives or in other school history collections (e.g. school museums). Researchers can use the wiki to search for individual schools, school locations, school types, archives or source types. Glossaries on school types and source types make it easy to get started.

As a citizen science project, anyone can contribute to the wiki, adding information about individual schools or the locations of sources and their respective collections. For example, school archivists can index the holdings of their school archives there, making them known and accessible for research.
