With eduresearch.social, the Specialised Information Service Education offers a subject-specific social network. It supports the exchange among educational scientists and researchers, didactics, as well as students and teachers, enabling networking with discipline-specific institutions such as professional societies, faculties, and research and infrastructure organizations. Important information, such as job postings, calls for papers, events, new publications, etc., is shared on eduresearch.social. The social network is based on Mastodon, making it transparent and compliant with data protection regulations. As a microblogging service, Mastodon relies on open interfaces and is organized in a decentralized manner. Accounts are connected to different instances, each establishing its own communication space. However, through a federated structure, interaction with Mastodon accounts on other instances is easily possible.
