peDOCS – Open Access Publications for Education Science & Educational Research

peDOCS is an Open Access repository for educational science and educational research literature. A continuously growing stock of publications can be accessed free of charge. Researchers, publishers and editors can make their publications accessible via peDOCS and archive them long-term.

About

The repository peDOCS (pedagogical documents) connects electronic full texts from education science and research making the publications accessible pursuant to the Berlin Declaration on Free Access for scientific information purposes (Open Access).

peDOCS is nested in the German Education Portal – which is a central access point to information in education science, educational research and didactics – as well as being accessible via the German Education Server and can also be found on international search engines. peDOCS is thus accessible across the globe.

Persistent availability of texts entered on peDOCS is assured by a long-term archiving cooperation with the German National Library.

Scientists can record their publications on peDOCS themselves in Open Access format – and scientific literature is also acquired in close cooperation with publishing houses and other cooperation partners. This type of acquisition assures that content published on peDOCS is checked by editors, citable, and scientifically valid. What is published on peDOCS is far-spread and found on large education science portals. Visibility and perception are central to a sustainable exchange and research. Publishing on peDOCS means that authors and publishers support the Open Access approach which aims at a free access to scientifically relevant literature.

peDOCS is engaged in the ENABLE! Platform which is creating a network of partners, to jointly promote Open Access publications in human and social sciences and develop new innovative models. peDOCS is also an official member of the Confederation of Open Access Repositories (COAR), which supports the Open Access movement and worldwide networking of repositories.

Cooperations

The peDOCS network roughly encompasses 40 cooperation partners, including publishing houses, associations and networks and groups of publishers (as of November 2023).
