Schulmediothek.de

The portal provides information on the structure, organisation and operation of school libraries. It contains suggestions for educational work and shows best practice examples of how to promote reading, media and information literacy as well as cooperation between schools and libraries.

About

The portal provides information on fundamental questions relating to library planning: How are libraries managed? How are their holdings structured and organised? What role do they play in teaching and school life? It also offers ideas on how to promote reading and the use of computers and the Internet, as well as how to develop the necessary information and media skills.
A database contains addresses of school libraries and institutions that support school libraries. Schulmediothek.de also provides information on services offered by public libraries to schools. Studies and reports on cooperation between libraries and schools as well as news about libraries and reading promotion are constantly updated. The portal adresses school librarians, teachers, pupils, parents and other interested parties and provides an overview of all aspects of school libraries.

The portal is a service offered by DIPF | Leibniz Institute for Research and Information in Education and the German Library Association (dbv) as part of the German Education Server. The committee for Library and Schools of the German Library Association (dbv) provides editorial support.
