DIPF focuses on sustainable work and research. Sustainability management promotes measures for ecological, social, and economic sustainability. The goal is climate neutrality by 2035, based on the guidelines of the Leibniz Association and the LeNa guidelines.
Since 2021, the DIPF has been developing and supporting measures that promote sustainable work and research at the institute. As part of the Alliance of Science Organisations, the Leibniz Association aims to achieve climate neutrality by 2035.
Sustainability management is the central point for coordinating and driving forward the institute's actions and projects towards climate neutrality and sustainability. The understanding of sustainability is based on the guidelines of the Leibniz Association and the “Guidelines for sustainability management in non-university research organisations” (LeNa), which were drawn up jointly with the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and the Helmholtz Association.
LeNa identifies central fields of action for sustainability in research institutes, including organisational management, research, personnel, buildings and infrastructure as well as supporting processes. Based on this guideline, the DIPF implements various measures in all fields of action, with sustainability management prioritising the areas of procurement and mobility.
