• School development with a focus on transformation processes in the education system
• Institutional developments in the education system, particularly at the secondary and post-secondary level
• Educational monitoring and educational governance
• Social disparities of educational attainment across the lifespan and across educational trajectories
• Conceptualization and assessment of socio-cultural as well as ethnic family background variables (structural and process variables) and validity of information from students and parents regarding socio-cultural background
• Educational biographies and decisions on transition taking into account individual, institutional and contextual effect sizes
• Research syntheses and systematic reviews
