Guidelines for a good all-day school

What does a good all-day school look like – and how can you contribute to it in your own educational institution, municipality or other programmes? These questions were discussed intensively by hundreds of participants in the science-based quality dialogue on all-day schooling, thus moving the debate on all-day schooling forward.

In order to secure the discussion and development results from the workshops on key fields of action, guidelines were developed, these were published in November 2021 as a six-part series of pocket-size (A6) brochures as a printed version, which is also available online. It offers practical guidance to anyone involved in or interested in creating a good all-day school:

  • Fostering positive social relationships
  • Developing successful provision
  • Managing all-day schools successfully
  • Implementing programmes
  • Strengthening cooperation in the all-day school
  • Planning a sustainable all-day concept

The project has made the knowledge base on all-day schooling in Germany visible. The results provide research, practice and administration with guidance for further work – because the dialogue also revealed where research still needs to be done.
