Research at DIPF should be relevant to practitioners and offer real added value to the education system and the people working there.

The aim is to translate research findings and recommendations into concrete measures and effective programmes, thus making a sustainable contribution to improving the education system. In addition, the process of translating research findings into practice is itself a subject of research. DIPF for example investigates conditions required for scientifically based measures to be integrated and implemented in (educational) practice – as efficiently and sustainably as possible.

Criteria for successful implementation include, for example:

  • the dissemination of a measure
  • the extent and sustainability of the change achieved
  • the identification of involved parties with the introduced measure
  • close cooperation among researchers, practitioners and decision-makers
  • the identification and consideration of the needs and challenges of practitioners and their different logics of action and time perspectives
