BiTraInter-DBS – Feasibility Study: Strengthening a Bi-directional Knowledge Transfer on the German Education Server Using International Best Practices
The exploratory study examines best practices to support the exchange of knowledge between educational practice and research. For this purpose, international bi-directional transfer structures are being analysed and their transferability to the German Education Server is evaluated.
Project Description
At the core of the study, there is the user-oriented expansion of transfer measures at the German Education Server to support educational professions, especially school teachers, and to strengthen the connection between research and practice. Based on international best-practice examples that respect the autonomy of all involved target groups, particularly practitioners, and understand the creation of knowledge through bi-directional exchange, the study explores whether these approaches can be transferred to the German Education Server. Needs of practitioners regarding scientific findings need to be better understood (“What does practice need?”) and, conversely, the needs of educational research regarding how exchange with practice can enrich research (“In which way does research benefit?”). We focus on the prerequisites for a sustainable reusage of the provided knowledge and the role of institutions that can contribute to ensuring long-term impact (“Which best-practice approaches achieve a certain impact in the target groups?”). In interviews with national stakeholders and educational actors, we will identify both content-related needs and ways of preparing information in low-threshold formats. The exploratory study finally will develop various scenarios for an expanded transfer area of the German Education Server, including a cost analysis and test of the scope of implementation.
Project Objectives
The BiTraInter-DBS project examines the suitability of international best practices for bi-directional transfer to expand the German Education Server (DBS) with a module for knowledge transfer between research and practice. In a preliminary study, we will develop various scenarios for this expansion, including an analysis of costs and test of the scope of implementation. Based on the most promising scenario, a workflow can be modelled and theoretically carried out using a specific transfer topic that will emerge from the study.
