ReTransfer – Re-innovation and transfer of digital disciplinary concepts in social science teacher education in the context of digital sovereignty and open educational practices

Background

The digital is integrated into our everyday life and is no longer an isolable entity. The challenge for social science education processes is to enable people to act responsibly in the digital present and future. Under the guiding principle of digital sovereignty, the focus is on responsible citizens who can use digital technologies in a self-determined and critical way.

In order to ensure the digital sovereignty of teachers, the question of an organisationally controlled development process in teacher education must be pursued. This shifts the focus from media applications, learning management systems and digital tools for teaching to the debate on Open Educational Resources (OER) and Open Educational Practices (OEP). OER are openly licensed educational materials that can be shared and modified at any time. OEP are characterised by cooperative and participatory approaches and processes using and creating OER and integrating learners. These can be made re-usable and transferable.

Subproject DIPF

At the DIPF, two sub-projects (SP 1 and SP 10) are pursued.

SP 1 is responsible for the coordination of networking and transfer. It investigates the impact factors and conditions for the success of knowledge transfer. For this purpose, the transfer possibilities, e.g. the one via education portals and the uni- and multi-directional communication channels to the different target groups (e.g. teachers, state institutes) are identified, evaluated and used. At the same time, SP 1 informs about the results and processes from the other sub-projects, including the German Education Server.

SP 10 addresses the prerequisites of digital infrastructures in order to collaboratively develop digital subject concepts in the sense of open educational practices. For this purpose, the sub-projects are accompanied and examined in the development of the subject concepts via interviews and focus groups, and the status of digital infrastructures in relation to teacher education is surveyed. The aim is to coordinate the development of OER with the digital routines of professional practice so that open educational practice can be promoted.

Research questions

The DIPF focuses on two central questions:

1. Which factors of impact and conditions of success for cross-national transferability can be identified in order to disseminate digital disciplinary concepts for social science education processes in the German-speaking countries?
2. Which prerequisites for digital infrastructures can be identified in order to collaboratively develop digital disciplinary concepts in the sense of a culture of open educational practice?

In order to answer the first research question, a concept for the transfer and dissemination of project processes and results will be designed. The transfer formats will be coordinated with the project partners as well as with other currently running transfer projects, including lernen:digital. The transfer and dissemination concept is used for project communication via existing infrastructures, such as the German Education Server.
To answer the second research question, interviews, surveys and a Delphi study will be conducted with relevant stakeholders. The aim is to find out which digital infrastructures are available and used at the different locations of the project partners, how the development of digital disciplinary concepts as OER proceeds in practice using digital infrastructures, and how the connectivity of such practices is assessed.

Outcomes

At the end of the project, there will be guidelines for the transferability of digital disciplinary concepts in the context of digitally based teacher training. In addition, recommendations for the implementation of open educational practices in digital infrastructures will be published.

Project Objectives

Against this background the joint initiative aims at developing, implementing and researching digital disciplinary concepts for cross-national and cross-disciplinary social science teacher training, which can be offered in the context of open educational practices in blended learning arrangements. This includes, in particular, the transnational transferability of the digital disciplinary concepts.
