Abstract (english): Until the 1960ties, basic education for all students was considered to be the task of the 8‑years ongoing primary school within the Eastgerman school system. Thereafter it had to be accomplished by the 10-years ongoing compulsory full-time school, the so called "polytechnical grammar school". Also referring to general aspects of the history of schooling, the paper analyzes the organization of curriculum and standards of achievement within the "Unterstufe" of GDRs primary schools.
